Someone Please Clarify? TurboII to NA Transmission

Can someone please clarify this?

I want to hook the TurboII motor up to the NA transmission.

What flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate do I need?

I've heard both T2 and NA.

Please clarify. =(

You need the appropriate flywheel, clutch & pressure plate to match your engine series, in the N/A form.

make sure your flywheel is the same series as it's motor. s4 engines cant use the s5 flywheel and vice versa - unless you get it balanced

edit:..oops, already mentioned...sorry

I don't think its possible. The TII has a bigger flywheel and you would have to use a TII or auto starter and I don't think it will fit right. Unless you can somehow use a N/A flywheel on a TII engine (I have a N/A engine bolted up to a TII transmission with a TII flywheel.) You may as well get a TII transmission to avoid the hassle. Unless someone else can confirm that a N/A trans will match up to a TII engine as far as the difference in size and the whole starter situation.

It's the exact same idea as you using the TII trans on your N/A, if that worked, why wouldn't the opposite.

Think McFly.

It'll work fine.

both flywheels can hook up to the end of the eccentric shaft cuz they're the same size. so you can use a tII motor and a n/a flywheel and vice versa.... the problems are that:

a) you have to use the same series combo for internal balance issues
b) have to re-wire the trannies and use the appropriate starters
c) match the driveshafts to its differentials

so in theory, yes he can use a tII motor with a n/a tranny - but it's gonna take some work and you have to becareful not to rip apart the n/a tranny with all that power from the motor. i'd save some time and money on investing a tII tranny. mazdatrix i believe sells tII-n/a driveshafts

*edit:and you are correct about the tII flywheel being bigger than the n/a so hence, he needs the appropriate parts

I understand matching series flywheels because the rotors are all the same wieght. But if he keeps the TII flywheel and clutch setup (which I highly recomend) he will need a TII or auto starter and I don't know if it will match up on a N/A transmission. I've never done it and I've never heard of anyone doing it so I don't know if it will work. I wouldn't run a TII engine with a N/A flywheel and clutch especailly with a N/A transmission. Even if it did work its a bad idea.

He can't keep the TII flywheel, it won't even fit in the N/A bellhousing. That's why he asked what he needed to change, and what was answered up top.

Why not run a TII on a N/A transmission? Works fine for me.

all it is:
match the flywheel to the tranny. keep it in series. S4 on S4 only. etc.
engine doesnt matter. na tranny uses na flywheel, clutch, and starter.

This is freaking nuts....

All you need is to use the NA flywheel and clutch assembly from the same series of TII engine that you have.

So if you are swapping S4 NA to S4 TII, then swap the NA flywheel and clutch parts onto the TII engine. Simple as that.

If you are going cross series, you also need to match the front counterweight which is a pain in the butt as the front cover must be removed.

Edit...The rule is that the flywheel and clutch must match the transmission.

The other tip is to keep the NA's open diff & tire size, so you spin the tire before breaking things.
It's more fun anyway.
