Hey guys im in the process of buying a new fc and just wanna know a few thing so i know what spare parts to keep, or sell.

1) will a turbo heat wrap/blanket from a s4 fit a s5 turbo?is the hotside similar/same?

2)how hard is it to remove a power window assembly and install a manual window assembly?
Ill add more later, goin back to work.

the biggest thing with power to manual swap would be the door panels - you'd need ones from a manual window car to do it........swapping the regulators out should not be a huge deal

 

I have grey door panels for manual windows. PM me if your interested.

 

Thats goodm, i ahve both door panels i wa sjust windering about the assembly that moves the glass.

The car currently has no blow off or bypass valve installed, is there any precautions i can take untill I get one installed?

 

don't boost it

better off don't drive it

The blowoff valve releases the shockwave from the inakte stream between the turbo and the throttle plates that is created when the trottle plates slam shut.

If there was NO place for this shockwave to go, it would travel backwards down the intake stream (after smacking into a shut throttle plate) and head straight for the compressor wheel....effectively acting like a stick poking into fan blades.

Dont boost. If you're worried about boosting disconnect the wg actuator arm from the flapper for the time being. If you do happen to boost do not immediately let off the throttle but rather slowly release off the gas peddle and return it to vac. If you do this right even with a bov the bov wont vent.

 

there are cars that run low boost like 6 psi ish that dont even come with bov stock..... the turbos dont last quite as long as most cars... maybe have about 3/4ths the life span of one with a BOV, but they last decently long

id say its ok to drive, just try not to be boosting.
at stock boost levels the stock turbo wont be getting to must stress on it..certainmy more than normal but its not gonna xplod or something, unless its allready totally worn out or was about to let go anyway...
