Some good reading?
Hi (to anyone who reads this),
I'm looking into getting an RX-7 89-91 Turbo II as my first car. I've been watching this forum for a while and skimming the net for any and all info I can find. I wanted to know if there are any books or other sites that have a lot of info on anything RX-7. Be it repair, upgrading, etc. Also I'm curious to know how some of you guys came to know what you know about RX-7's/rotaries.
Thanx.
Dustin.

Good point. But i'm kinda trying to find anything that will give me a good amount of info in 1 or 2 articles/books. Rather than going thru EVERY post on here and reading them all.

You may also want to go to your local book store and buy the rx7 performance handbook. It costs about 20 bucks and discusses eveything from buying your car to doing engine swaps/porting/suspension...etc. It pretty much covers everything you can do to a rotary engine and an rx7. It also tells you the history of the Mazda rotary project. Good luck with the car whichever one you get.

Get the RX-7 Performance Handbook if you need something to stuff up a drafty door or if the kid wants an RX-7 coloring book - that book is REALLY bad, full of misinformation....grr, don't get me started.
The Sports Car Color History book by John Matras is pretty good, but the new book by Brian Long is *EXCELLENT* - that is hands-down one of the best RX-7 references out there. Just do a search on Amazon for Brian Long - the name of the book escapes me (it's RX-7 something or other).
The two Yamaguchi RX-7 books are excellent, but are out of print and not available at a bookseller. They pop up on Ebay frequenly, though - one covers the 2nd gen, and one covers the 3rd gen and the '89-91 changes to the 2nd gen.
Anyhow, the Long book will get your feet wet with regards to the different models and history of the car. The only resource with specifics as to repair and modification is the web, and there's a LOT of RX-7 stuff out there.

BTW, the book to get is RX-7: Mazda's Rotary Engine Sportscar by Brian Long. It's $35 from Amazon, and it's a hardcover book. Any book that was proofread and has a forward by Koby himself is worth ten times that!
