Solo II Question: What class does a Turbocharged NA belong to?

I can't figure out this one. I know it can't belong to the Stock category. How 'bout Street Prepared or Street Touring ? Is it even allowed in SCCA?

Since you've added forced induction to a normally aspirated car, you'll be placed in BP, iirc. Unless you just tell them that it's an RX-7 Turbo - then you'll most likely be in ASP. You can't be in ST, since your car is a sports car chassis (though that's sort of open to interpretation).

But don't worry about it. No matter what class you're in, you're not going to be competitive. And if you're not sure in what class you're going to compete, you probably don't have enough seat time to justify trying to compete anyway.

Just have fun and learn the car.

I'm running my N/A without a turbo in FP now, and am actually fairly competitive on street tires. I'm sure I wouldn't be on a national level, but I do pretty decent. I'm turboing my car this winter, but I dunno if i'll stay in the same class. Just ask someone at an event.

It depends on what you did to the car. For example, if you effectively turned your car into a TII by adding ALL of the TII standard equipment OF THE SAME YEAR (stock TII engine, TII tranny, TII brakes, etc.) you could actually race in the Stock category as a TII. After that the classes get sticky, depending on whether you try to class as an NA with a turbo engine, or a TII with NA parts. Someone at the event will be able to sort it out. In the worst case scenario, you will race in the Modified class, which will allow just about anything you have probably done to your car except for wings. Don't worry about being competitive in whatever class you end up in, as I have seen cars in the Stock class turn in the fastest time of the day. It's all about the driver. Have fun.

The Street Touring class is for riced-out 4-seaters. Sorry, 2+2 can't compete, even with neon lights.

The CSCC class you would be in is Street Mod or SM. Any aftermarket forced induction put you into this category for California Sports Car Club events. Don't listen to the non cali auto crossers since their region is different than ours.
