solenoid air filter

solenoid air filter

im rebuilding my motor and while taking it out i broke off the air filter on the Gray solenoid. what is that one for? will it affect it with the filter broke off?

Grey is for the Switching solenoid which controls part of the ACV. It'll work without the filter and I can't imagine damage being done (unfiltered air but small/miniscule amount).

If you have a EGR solenoid on your car you could just swap the solenoids just making sure the *new* switching solenoid is configured like the old one when you install it. Just saying the filter on those pulls off by hand and can be installed on any of the three nipples on those solenoids.
