I believe its called a condesor? But im not entirely sure either and im not sure what to do next
I had my engine/tranny out for about 2 weeks and when going back in and installing wires under the car i got lost and ended up twisting that bad boy off.
If anyone knows please oh please share your knowledge of what i should do next
Oh vehicle specs is S5 GTUs NA
Thanks

just replace it,youll never restore that connection where it broke,i have several, ill do one for $7 shipped,i believe it isolates from the ignition, coils, etc, radio frequency(RF) noise, prob.
Not sure but I would say it came off the fire wall area probably doesn't matter so long as it has a good ground could have been for electrical devices related to the trans. ..or would also guess that is to keep the finiky Mazda gauges switches or lights etc. from being erratic and giving false readings - it is suppose to absorb uneven electrical surges ., Sorry but I don't believe there are any such devices for radio suppression on these cars but haven't been around the little cars long enough to be sure . Call it what you will condenser or resistor one is much the same as the other and both do pretty much the same job although the resistor may cause an electrical field . Things should work without it but would suggest you replace , lots of them get thrown away because people don't think they are needed . JMO Gerald m.
it slows down and protects the oil pressure gauge from swings from the oil pressure sensor.. i expect an audio type 0.47 cap added back onto the oil pressure wire will do same job
PS
it bolts onto firewall near the clutch slave.. and attaches to the oil sender wiring down there

Dude I have that hanging in my engine bay right now. I tried to bolt it to the firewall for a ground but it messed up my idle and my car had trouble starting. I have left it hanging and my engine couldn't be happier.

There are two of those in a S5.
One is part of the ignition circuit and mounts on the front bracket for the trailing coils, on the rear of the strut tower. You normally wouldn't mess with that one during engine removal.
The second is part of the oil pressure gauge and should mount to the slave cylinder, although they tend to migrate over the years. This is most likely the one you're showing.
You don't really need it.
Now quit breaking things.
