so um. how do i fix this?
the side seal somehow became "welded" to the side of the side housing slot. the motor was torqued down and i had no idea that the seal was out of its groove. how do i fix this ?? ive tried to work it out with a screwdriver but it seems to be really really on there.

I can't quite clarify that pic enough to figure out exactly the extent of damage, but it looks and sounds like it may be screwed up. Side seals, if clearanced right, will be nice and springy in their slots during assembly, and may even want to pop out every now and then, but rarely. Anyway, if it distorted the slot so that
a) the old seal won't come out or
b) a new seal won't go in or
c) a new seal will go in and have lots of play
then you probably can't use it. IF it is just a small area that is catching, take sandpaper or emory cloth and slide it in the groove, and go back and forth several times. You can also take a sharp razor knife and trim the edge...it will actually cut the rotor material a little at a time...try not to gouge INTO the metal, just shave off a bit at a time in the tight spots.
I wouldnt advise a cutting wheel...most would be too thick. Plus, the slot is curved, a wheel is not, so it'll distort it and widen it. The only thing I'd consider is one of those really thin, flimsy dremel wheels..not the fiberglass ones, but the brown ones that are paper thin.
IF you need another rotor I can set you up.
