Lock the steering wheel?

On my s5, turn the wheel a bit and it locks.

I also never lock my doors, locked door = broken window. Broken window = more money than everything in the car LOL.

I have a gutted interior so it's pretty easy for me to snag the ecu and take it inisde, not to mention quick release on my steering wheel but you can still drive the car with a pair of pliers or something.

I say a fatty alarm and possibly a tracker

Just install a good car alarm with a kill switch... If you have alot of money invested in the car then an extra $700 for Lojack is the way to go... W/ lojack, they usually find your car w/i hours... Plus, a thief would expect your old car to maybe have an alarm, but never a lojack... Think about it, who would lojack a 20yoa car??? I would...

As said, a kill switch is the way to go. Personally I have a couple switches on the car - there's no way to start it unless you know what's what.

I also have a quick release steering wheel.....at the very least a potential theif will pass on one without a steering wheel.

But the age old addage is true that if they want it - they'll take it. That being said though that addage presumes they've got a tow truck and its not exactly common in thefts.

A switch is cheap - GOOD insurance. At the very worst they bust a window, break the ignition and crank it (or not) for 2minutes until they get pissed off and leave. But you'll still have your car afterwards. Doing collision repair and insurance work I see enough thefts to shake my head at anyone who has no kill switch of some description......its just so easy!!

Most thieves don't steal cars with a flatbed. There are some good tips in this thread that will prevent 95% of thefts... or so I hear from similar threads. I mean, are they gonna go through all that time & effort and risk getting caught or are they gonna move on? Everything from pulling a fuse every time you park (try EGI under the dash, for example) to a sensitive alarm plus fuel cut is at least something. Get a Haynes manual to see where the fuel pump is wired; it tells you in the section where you change the fuel filter. Any old switch will do. Plus the Haynes manual is useful for other things too.

Steering wheel locks are common and well known by thieves. Assuming it doesn't have a flawed locking mechanism that can be picked with a simple pointy implement, the common answer is a can of A/C refrigerant and a hammer. Spray, smash, gone.

hopefully the fc popularity wont pick up like the 240sx... i had a 240sx from 01 to 06 and i modded it extensively. I wanted it back then since it wasnt that common in the import tuning scene... and when the popularity grew from drifting, i started to fear that **** so i got rid of it. A car of mass popularity or alot of people owning em = thefts.

prety good thred and ideas. monkeys are hard to come by around here, so seems like ima have to do a fuel kill switch . I read on how to do it from the rotary resurection page. My question is i have a stand alone, and if i remember correctly theres a red wire (power) from the fuel pump to the standalone. Will adding a switch to said wire do the trick? i was also wondering if using an existing switch w/i the car could be possible? a switch thats still in the car from factory, but not used anymore. plus i would think its alot harder for a theive to figure out a factory switch has to be on, as compared to an obvious switch in the center console, steering colum, glove box, ect.

What about a physical wheel lock? I know they use them here at the university when people park in unauthorized zones... Apparently they can withstand even liquid nitrogen to a point(like people carry LN in their back pocket lol). If the car won't roll that also prevents it from being easily hoisted onto a flatbed.

If anyone really wants it, it's gone. Flatbeds and winches can do some amazing things. But velociraptors are great at deterring theives; and I hear they can be pretty well trained nowadays!

Nice. They get your car back in record time and you still call them pigs.

Now this makes me worried of other break ins, like i just bought my 7 on the 24th and already jacked, wtf!. Unfortunately my landlord is being a dick and she wont give me an underground parking stall (instead allocating 2 to another family). My question what are the best methods to protect our cars? immobilizers? alarms? club (had one didn't stop though)?
First, check your lease and see what it says about parking. If it says that you are just as entitled to the underground spot as anyone else, inform the landlady of that and remind her that your car was just stolen. If a tenant is only entitled to one spot, take it to the local municipality.

Also, just slightly unplug the CAS. Or the fuel pump relay under the dash.

Edit...Or use the sex noise car alarm:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoETmhi73EM

Wouldn't be too difficult to rig up with a burned CD of a porno soundtrack and a relay to activate the stereo when the door is opened...

Let me back up what this guy is saying,

If theifs really want your car, they will get it, you wont be able to help it, just do your preventives:

lock your car,

low-jack

kill-switch

stuff like that

If you get a 2 way pager alarm, your set. Basically what happens is when the car alarm goes off you get paged by the car telling you it's going off. Usually there is a distance limit, mine is 3000 feet.
