So im going with a 13B-RE just want to clear somethings up...

So right now i own a 91 coupe N/A with a full TII drive train minus the block. Now i was originally going to just buy the block, ecu, wires, etc.. And complete the conversion. Then i stumbled upon a write-up on fc3s.org about the ease of swapping in a 13b-re. So I've made my list of things needed for the swap. Anyone who has done the swap please help me out. Also comment on any issues you ran into.
Needed:

Cosmo 13b-re long block
Already have TII flywheel and clutch etc. so that will bolt up to the motor and TII trans.
I need a stock S5 TII ecu and wire harness. Fine just have to run turbos in non-seq. mod.
FMIC Kit
Bigger Rad.
SS oil cooler lines
Better fuel pump
And custom mounts
I think I also need the water pump off my car to get rid of the serpentine on the Cosmo.

To me it seems a little to simple and a lot more people would be doing it. Am I missing something?

Why would you want to get rid of the serpentine setup?

also, the fc waterpump is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy smaller than the cosmo one. id reccomend using an fc one, i did and it seems to be the way most people went with.

I think the reason is becouse it is harder to find parts for the jdm cosmo. You can still easily find s5 fc water pumps new and used.

Well, idealy you can just throw on a FC waterpump and keep the serpentine pulleys, (this is what I use), does a whole lot better than the v-belts!

You're right.
You're seriously overestimating how much it takes to do this swap completely.

This is a really stupid thing to do.

SS oil cooler lines
I think the oil cooler lines go up to the oil filter base, if it's anything like the 20B.
This means you need a *custom* set, cause I don't know of anyone that makes a drop-in set for the FC.

Yeah, you're missing a lot.

Now Ted, it isn't nice to use sarcasm like that on the internet... keep it comin.

Sure the swap's easy. It's the same as putting any other motor in when you get the mounting holes lined up and all the little things worked out... Ohh, I almost forgot... getting all the little things worked out is 97% of the work.

you might beable to get it cheaper. there is thread in the fs area of nopistons of a guy who imports motors in NY. i got my cosmo motor from him last year, was much less than 2k even after shipping. ive put maby 12kmiles on it so far and its running strong!

yeah, you should be able to pick one up much cheaper than $2k. I paid that for my first and paid only $1300 for the next one. Difference being the first had a run guarantee (and I paid too much).

No secret though is that you really know nothing about the condition of the motor. Plan on a rebuild -- if you don't have to do it, then you'll have extra money in the budget for something else. I'm going to try to get away w/ not rebuilding mine for now...

You'll need to leave the auto counterweight in place -- then just match the flywheel to whatever tranny you're mating to. In other words, if you're using an S5 Turbo tranny, use an S5 Turbo flywheel. Something to note, if you don't get the counterweight w/ the purchase of the engine, keep shopping -- I think you'll have a VERY hard time trying to pick up just a Cosmo counterweight. Unless someone has figured out how to do a reliable swap w/o the RE counterweight??

You're probably looking at standalone, but there are threads stating success using a TII (or even a vert) ECU. You'll likely have to run the twins in non-sequential mode -- but ultimately you'll probably want a single turbo setup and at that point you're probably talking standalone anyway...

If you're willing to drop the cash on a standalone, then you need to take a heavy look at info regarding that standalone and the differences in running it on an RE versus a regular 13bT or REW.

If you're going to end up rebuilding it, plan on taking out the exhaust diffusers as they limit flow. Your big single will really appreciate this mod.

There is quite a bit of info on this swap on this forum and on various member's websites... Do some searches, you'll find quite a bit of info.

custom dp for the stock twins.

I would ditch the twins, run a single S5 turbo and use aftermarket dp.

ok i have an s5 tii flywheel. If i get an s5 tII ecu it will run just as a 13bt would run on the same ecu. do you have any reason to call it stupid. Or are just saying get a standalone so you can have 500hp. As far as oil cooler lines. Ya they run to different spots on the black but flexable ss lines will be long enough to get you there. That is why they dont make a set. If i use the TII flywheel and tranny the stock cosmo counter weight will be fine. i did searches and thats why im here trying to crush the hype on why they are so hard.

ya thats were i got the whole idea that it wasn't that hard of a swap. his site even says you can use the tii ecu and harness. so i dont know why he is saying that im missing so much. either his site is incomplete and total crap or there is some huge conspiracy behind these cosmo motors.

The Cosmo rotors are the same weight as the S5 and FD rotors.
Thus, an auto counterweight from an S5 or FD will work.

Are you trying to make 500hp with the stock ECU?
