So i think my fc is dead...
Well I have been having issues with my car more recently....I ordered my radiator installed it....it's in working order...but my coolant is still dissapearing and I did a Royal Purple oil change a little over yesterday and now my oil today was down to barely on the dipstick.... I don't know what to honestly do, I don't have the money to get right up and send it in for a rebuild that $2500 I can't afford...but I'd hate to sell it...I'm guessing my coolant and oil seals have gone? help please...advice and info would be nice
I have but It seems like my car is burning it all off...I will check some more but, my exhuast is occasionally spurting out white clouds...they don't have any kind of sweet smell...and it smells like burning oil sometimes in my car while I drive...Well I guess it is time for it to be rebuilt it has allloott of miles 185k

Does it smoke? If so, what color? Do you see any oil/coolant visibly leaking? If it smokes and you see no oil/coolant leaking, then you probably have bad seals. Depending on the milage and housing condition, you can rebuild it yourself for pretty cheap.

If it only does it a little when you first start up, then your coolant seals are probably starting to go. It should be fine for a while so you can save up, just always make sure its full of coolant, and watch the temps.
Look and see if it smokes any at high rpms, that can be a sign of oil ring failure. If it really lost a quart in a day, then I think you have other problems besides oilrings. Maybe a horribly bad rear main seal, or something.

now that you mention it...the leaking has been going on shortly after I bought the car but this is very significant leaking I mean I changed all 4 and a half quarts Saturday...but the It appears to be leaking around the rear main seal area....how much would that cost to replace?

About 5 bucks, and several hours of labor. You have to drop the tranny to replace it. You might as well replace the clutch at the same time, though since its right there (unles its new.) My mustang had the same problem - I would add a quart whenever I filled it up, which was every 4 or 5 days. Damn V-8's and their 10-12 MPG. At least gas was only 80 cents a gallon back then. Those were the days...
Where were we? Oh yeah, rear main seal. On my mustang the clutch was coated in oil, so I had to replace it anyway, so check that out if you have to do it.

so this is something I could, with the help of someone who has a better idea of what they are doing, acomplish this on my own? as for the rebuild...how much would it cost if i did it with someone who knew what was going on? and myself

You can drop the tranny with a friend without too many problems. You can do it in a day, but plan on having the next day open just in case you run into major problems.
The engine rebuild can be done as cheaply as 600 hundred or so just replacing the soft seals and apex seals, if you do it yourself. If you need new housings, which is definately possible, its gonna go up from there. A few hundred for good used ones, on up to like 900 for new ones. Kevin Landers (www.rotaryresurrection.com) can do it starting around 1000 and goes up from there depending on new parts needed. It doesn't sounds like you need a rebuild, though.

I have a few used engines we could install for you, you're not far from our shop at all...
