Last night me and my friends decided to watch movies, and when we decided to go to quickly's for some bubble tea, i noticed after i let my clutch out i would not be able to accelerate at all past maybe 2k? So i pulled my car over(still in the parking lot, thank god) popped my hood to look, and made it seem like i fixed something yanno? especially cause i had no idea what to look for. Got back in the car pumped the clutch a little, started it up and now i can drive it but the bucking and no acceleration moved from 2k to 4000 rpm?

Anybody ever encounter this? Or have any idea to where to look at?

At first i thought it was clutch related due to it bucking at real low an rpm(due to it happened right after i let the clutch out) But when it moved to 4000 rpm, i have no idea what it is.

Problems with the car, The clutch is going out, i do have that infamous 3000 hesitation.

But anybody with any insight on this, please tune in.

 

Car is an 86 n/a, and other then the 3000k hesitation, the car ran like a champ.

 

It could be the ground on the rear rotor housing under the UIM. If it's loose or very dirty it'll feel like hitting a brick wall under acceleration. Hard to say though, I'd start with a full tune up.
Plugs, wires, fuel filter is a start.
If you plan on keeping the car, I'd replace all the Intake manifold gaskets, injector rubbers(grommets, insualtors, O-rings),vacuum hoses, PD, and send the injector out to be tested and cleaned. While you've got the UIM off you could also check for crusty connections/ bad wiring.

 

Well, i just took it for a test drive a minute ago and the problem kinda just dissappeared.

 

It's still a good idea to do all the things I said.

 

I will, once i get another daily. This is my ride to college everyday so, i dont really have time to that major of a cleaning. Is there other ways to clean injectors without sending them out to shops?

 

You could spray the nozzles down with carb cleaner. Sending them off isn't necessary unless you want them to perform the best they can. you do want to replace the grommets, insulators and o-rings if you take them out though. The rubber is 27 years old now from the build date of the car, so it's all going to be hard.
