There's a guy that lives out here (tampa bay area) with a black BP'd car with the clear tails- said he bought 'em off eBay.

As for me- I put S5 (Kouki) tails on my S4 (Zenki)- I like them at night, but after seeing how the S4's look smoked with body color trim, I may dig the originals out of my attic and polish, smoke and paint them. Then I can swap back and forth as I please.

I've got both sets...I switch them every few months for a little change hehe IMHO, 89-91 tails = newer looking car, but 86-88 tails make the car look more and more like a little porsche 944 (especially with the '87 rubber sport lip spoiler, got that too hehe).

I like stock. But I prefer the tails that don't have the plastic trim. Or did someone just remove the plastic?

I've always liked my s4 tails, changing to s5 tails is so not worth 200 bucks.

I like the s4 tails. With my car i like the black trim. I also painted the amber part with clear red paint. I like the way that turned out. I've been painting all the black trim parts with a black metalic pearl and plan on painting the trim on the tails the same to contrast the pearl white mica paint on the body.

heres a pic that shows the amber painted to match the red

The average person thinks an S5 looks hella sick and don't believe the car is a 89-91 car and a lot of heads turn 2 see what the car is. When the average person looks at a S4 they say its ugly and looks old. One time I was kickin it with my homiez and everyone was sayin how my S5 was pimp. Then they saw the S4 roll by and everyone couldnt believe that was an RX-7 cuzz it looked so old. Maybe just our opinions, but I know that this happens to me a lot.

Yeah, but when you say average person.. do you mean your sub 20 year old buddies in scenic Fresno?

Because no one over the age of 20 would use Homiez, hella sick, and pimp like that.

I did the S4 to S5 taillight swap for one reason. My buddy with a civic told me he could never tell it was me on the freeway until he pulled up next to me because I had civic tailights. The next day I ordered S5s. I don't have anything against civics but, I certainly don't want to drive a car that can be mistaken for one.

I'm 25 so I guess I fall in the catagory of youngins so this may come as no suprise but like I said in my previous post that I wouldn't spend that kind of money one tail lights however if someone where to give them to me or if I found a good price I would switch to the round tail lights (sorry don't know the denki lenki talk) because I just think round tail lights look really neat and more up-to-date than the older s4 style. I've found that things become fads because usually in the first place looks better in the beggining. Also like why songs are popular or not, like with the eagles I like hotel california because it sounds good and the reason why it is their most popular song is because it sounds damn good and appeals to other people besides the die hard fans. Anyways just my .02.

I don't think the S5 lights make the car look newer. I think they make her look wierd...

thinking of it...the ONLY think I like S5 lights for, is that they're not really red...they're a wierd dark-ish orange color...

I had a shop smoke the s4s from the inside, and on my s5s they were smoked from the outside then clearcoated.

What a ******' rip...
Anyone can do that with a set of stock tail lamps by carefully heating the edges to release the glue.
Once the red, amber, and white (reverse) lenses get loose, pop them off and you get an identical set like the one on that stupid website, minus that sticker.
