snapped...but what?
Hit a curb pretty hard a few days ago and it messed up the somethin pretty good.Im not quite sure what it is so I figured I post some pictures and see if any of the experts knew what it is.

wow! you snapped the rear hub! probably more damage. Maybe trailing arm, subframe, strut, and looks like the boot is cut on the axle. Pull the wheel and take some pics so we can see what else is twisted.

yeah thats the rear hub. mmmm those are kinda easy to replace. You can go used which will save you buying a part for way too much or you can buy fb01-49-140 (Left side) or fb01-49-130 (right side), check with your mazda parts dealer to verify whcih is which but I think that looks like the drivers side.
But I would just go used and replace bushings if necessary.

yes its the drivers and what exactly do you think I need to replace?

Trailing arm is definately trash and so is the axle. in the last pic that point where the bolt goes throught the hub should be nearly perpendicular to the rotor and it looks twisted about 10 degrees. I also have all parts if you need them.
HOLY CRAP!
Wow, you sure wrecked your dixie...
Anyways, you might get lucky and get the parts cheap...if you do the work your self it is gonna be prob a weekend.
You are going to have to lower the subframe somewhat or just take it out....I would to inspect for cracking.
On the bright side....when it broke maybe that saved the rest of the stuff under there.

We have all screwed up in our car and to be a dick to this guy means you must have never messed up....maybe you are lucky and it hasn't cost you yet.

Sorry about soundling like a troll
Yeah, we have all messed up. But i never broke anything. but after a few close calls i found closed course racing. and out there its safer to make a mistake and theres no curbs to crash into.
I guess we all go though that stage where we think we are hot **** and and try to drive are cars like its le mans. If this is the case, then i hope a lesson was learned.

Save the body work for last. Like mentioned above, you should be able to get away with spending less than $300 easy (for the suspension stuff, not body work), and do the work yourself in a few days.
If you can get an entire rear subframe from a local junk yard, you could just drop yours and put the new one up. 4 main nuts, rear shock mounts (2 nuts each), the subframe rod in the middle (one nut/bolt), the driveshaft (4 nuts/bolts), e-brake cable on each caliper, and I think that's all you have to disconnect to get the subframe bolts.
