i doubt it you need to rebuild it......you were probubly just burning the carbon build up in the engine.....you need to bring the RPMs up to 6 or 7 everyonce in a while to clean the carbon out...search the term Redline and you will find all the info on this

if it isnt carbon, your oil control seals have hardened and shrunken and you are burning the oil. rebuilding is the only way to fix this roblem.

By "smoking" I would assume he meant continuously. I can't see burning off carbon doing that...

i cant either, i vote oil control seals. i had a first gen that would fill 4 lanes of highway with blue smoke after i was on it and woul let off near 6k. the engine went shortly after. though no fauly of the oil burning, it lost an apex seal.

In The Mean Time Go And Get You Some Stop Leak And From Your Local Auto Store Its About 3 Bucks Mabe Less And Drain Your Oil And Put That In There After You Put In The New Oil That Will Stop The Oil From Going Over The Seal And Will Stop The Smoking Temp Until You Build It I Had The Same Problem With Mime Before I Did My Swap Other Than That My Engine Ran Fine For Another Few Thousand Miles And It Would Only Smoke In The Morning But After It Warmed Up It Stoped Because Of The Stop Leak Oil But Just Use That Until You Rebuild Your Engine If Your In Southern Cali I Know A Guy That Does A Great Job For Cheap The Guy That Won Best Second Gen At Seven Stock 9 Had His Engine Rebuilt By Him And So Did My Friend 4 Of His Engines Have Been Built By Him He Is Very Good

Using Stop Leak may make your core worthless for a rebuild.

yea guys his car smokes bluish haze around 6 rpm and then when it hits 6k, it stays smokin at idle, not as huge of a cloud of course but still a constant smoke will come out his exhaust and then leavin it runnin for a while it goes away maybe after 15, 20 minutes but we had an rx7 mechanic look at it and tried the carbon burn off thing and still it smokes. Mostly everyone locally has been recommending a rebuild even tho we've been inspecting his engine and it seems to have been rebuilt recently. It may have been whoever did the rebuild messed up the oil seals. We got no confirmation on the rebuild but its for sure his engine was taking apart

n/a - obviously worn or missing oil control oil seals, no other way oil can be getting into the motor and a common problem on older higher mileage engines. result = rebuild the engine.

T2 - can be oil control seals but can also be a turbo oil seal, excessive oil in the intake pipes means a compressor seal failed, oil on the plugs means the oil control o-rings failed, oil only after the turbine is a failed turbine oil seal.

engine oil stop leak does nothing for rotary engines except maybe cut down on the smoke about 10%, it will not fix anything but it will hardly hurt anything that isn't already damaged.
