If you have an auomatic transmission the vacuum dampner can fail and atf gets sucked in the intake resulting in smoke. Its located on the center bottom of the
vehilcle.

That's.......something.............to check anyways.

Firstly, I would go out when the car is stone cold, pull your resivoir cap off the overflow bottle and fire up the engine. Look at the overflow hose - if its pissing out coolant - your coolant seals are toast.

There's other methods but I find this to be very effective and simple.

If they are toast - you're going to need to rebuild the engine in order to replace them.

It would take a full rebuild to do coolant seals. Sorry.

If you are looking to rebuild the motor yourself I've got a DIY-RE video set for sale if needed.

I wouldnt rebuild it yourself unless youre very confident in your work and knowledge on the whole process.

Im sure many people have rebuilt their motor on here and done well, but you could also rebuild your motor and end up having to rebuild it all over again if you do something wrong...so i always think its better to have someone with experience to build it and buy a blown motor to practice building if you want to try and see what its all about.

I'm HERE!!!!!! BRACE YOURSELVES!!!!

well the white smoke that doesn't stop means you've noticed it in the past but thought nothing of it when it stopped soon after it started OR YOU BOUGHT IT LIKE THAT (based on your post count I'll assume the latter).

when your coolant seals break they leak coolant into the chambers. When the car cools the crack in the seal compresses and leaks a lil bit. When you turn the car on the coolant burns and as the seal warms up (your engine warms up to operating temperature) the seal expands and the leak stops. Repeat this for a long time and eventually the crack grows and it reaches a point that it no longer seals when it's warmed up. You are now at that point.

^^^this is why you're supposed to do research before you buy a car, it's been posted here many times and in those threads there is a warning: IF THE PERSON DOES NOT LET YOU SEE THE CAR WHEN IT'S COLD THEN SOMETHING IS GOING ON! ALWAYS ASK TO SEE AN RX7 AFTER IT HAS COOLED DOWN TO SEE IF THE SEALS ARE INTACT!

"Oh someone else came and JUST test drove it." It might be true or they are trying to get you to buy a car that is in bad shape. I trust no one!

In order to get to the coolant seals you have to tear the motor apart. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REBUILD THE WHOLE MOTOR but you might as well do it since it's going to be apart (look into a mild streetport too).

All this information could have been found by searching ( just for you ABCDEFb). It's a horrible thing to see happen but sometimes it DOES HAPPEN.

NOw you are at a crossroads:

should you rebuild the NA motor?

should you look into doing a TII swap?
