Depends were you live I guess. They're completely legal here. As long as you can see the lights easily at night then they're fined. Which it looks like you can.

Ahh.. Any tampering of the OEM markers and tail lights is technically illegal in OR, WA and CA afaik.

you know its funny that the legality portion got brought up.
i have several friends, mostly being middle aged guys, from work that have their lights painted. including the owner of the body shop, all of his cars are blacked out. and he never gets in trouble.
course, thats kinda comparing apples to oranges huh?

too dark for me, they look murky instead of tinted or smoked.

actually, I like it. it's dark enough it seems to match the outer part of the trim, making it uniform, but obviously translucent enough to let the light through. my suggestion for improvement, if you want to do it, would be to fill the lights with clear resin so it would be smooth over the whole back end.

It is not the nighttime visibility that is at issue with the local popo- it's the DAYTIME vis. If you can't see your brakelights during the day, someone will most assuredly *** end you before too long. I had my tails (s4) smoked, and my neighbor (a Pinellas county sheriff) warned me that I would get a fix-it ticket for these, so now they are in my attic, and a shiny new set of s5's are installed.

IMO, I wouldn't risk it, as sick as they look.
