Question smoke when boosting ?

I searched but couldnt find anything...sorry if this is a common newbie question

I have a wierd problem with my T2,

when im going to work in the morning and my car has not yet reached operating temp's and i hit boost i get a big puff of smoke out the exaust... im not sure if this is coolant or oil burning but it does worry me, (i try not to boost untill my car is fully warmed up.. but sometimes it happens )

i never get any smoking when my car is at normal temps

any clues as to what it could be ?

what color is the smoke? Plus most vehicles smoke more when they are cold. If it is blue its oil

WTF ARE YOU DOING HITTING BOOST WHEN THE CAR ISN'T AT OPERATING TEMPS!!! Thats a big no no. It should NEVER happen. Most likely either carbon buildup, or the turbo seals are took a ****.

no way, the turbo is hot like 30sec after you start the car, start your car and touch the turbo, tell me it's it's hot after like a min of idling

very rarely do i boost when the car is cold and if i ever do its only 2-4 psi in second gear

and the smoke looks whitish grey so im not sure if its coolant or oil

If its coolant you will see white smoke puffing out for first 5-10min at morning idle. You will notice that your motor will some what hasitate to start when you crank up.

If its turbo, at WOT you will see gray, blueish smoke puffing out at WOT.

From what you've said, I'd say your turbo craped out.

Sounds like the seals to me also. What could be happening is that there sealing more after the car has warmed up.

Get it rebuilt i mean its prob time for it anyway. If its a stock turbo its what 15 years old with close to 100k in milage right? Rebuilds are about 500 bucks or so for our turbos.
