Does the smoke smell sweet?
Does it smoke any time other than startup, like when you accel. to redline and shift?

You might have a leaky injector. Does it often flood?

I got a problem like Gatlin said. I get a cloud of smoke when I use boost and then shift, will then tamper off. Ideas?

Sorry for thread jacking.

Turbo seal is what I was thinking as well. I forgot to add, the smoke smells like burning wax. If that helps.

If its a turbo seal causing oil to leak out of the turbo and into the motor, you'll exhaust will smoke real bad whenever you put your foot down on the gas. Check your BOV. Pull the hose off and wipe the inside with a finger. A lot of oil in the BOV will prove that you need a new/rebuild turbo. Its even easier to check if you vent to atmosphere. You'll have oil sprayed all over your engine bay.

No BOV. Right now everything is stock. :-( I did check the intercooler, is an oily film on the inside.

A little smoke when first starting (cold start) is okay. Oil Metering Pump (OMP) injects a small amount of oil when vehicle is started to keep apex seals lubed. Average use should be about 1 qt to 1000-1500 miles. Another thing that it could be is cold start assist fluid (depending on temp outside). This system injects a coolant/water mix into the intake to promote easier starting on cold days. Mixture is 90%coolant/10%water I believe. Pretty much useless and tends to cause more problems than not. The bottle for it is located on the passenger side firewall, kinda under the cruise control and behind the charcoal canister. just unplug the electrical connection and the feed hose, then plug feed hose to disable. Smoke when you dip into boost is another issue entirely. General rule of thumb is blue smoke = oil, white smoke = coolant, black smoke = too rich. Could be bad oil seal on turbo, clogged oil return line can cause oil to backup in turbo and push past seals, as your rpms increase so does oil pressure, meaning more oil to back up in turbo. Another smoking under boost possiblity is leaking water seal. Water seal (water o-ring) is comparable to piston engine head gaskets. keeps coolant out of combustion chamber, boost can sometimes push past o-ring and let coolant in. Sorry so long hope it helps. Remember these cars are over engineered and a labor of love.

Finally blow the turbo. Took the turbo off and it was filled with oil. Took it to a place down the street. $338 later, the car is running great.
