Smoke under the hood help! this is my daily driver!!

the oil temp gauge got hot kinda fast, then it started going higher, so i pulled over and there was smoke coming from the drivers side of the engine. What could cause this? Water pump? Coolant hose? please tell me its not a problem with the engine itsself...

What does it smell like?

My experience with smoking engine bay was found to be broken lines on the OMP dumping oil that would find its way to the exhaust manifold and smoke like hell. Oil really stinks bad like a garbage fire. Also closely check your oil cooler those hoses are known too fail.

If it smells sweet its coolant, check your radiator, and all related hoses.

Unlikely to be engine seals unless you are spewing out smoke from the exhaust. Likely a leaking coolant hose or loose hose clamp that you'll have to locate and repair/replace. Make sure you have adequate coolant in the system and run the car to determine where the leak is coming from.

Leaks that smoke in the engine bay are almost always external to the motor. Coolant leaks often leave behind a crusty white residue, check all over at the ends of water hoses and on the radiator itself for signs of leaking.

yeah, you only really need to start worying if the smoke is coming from the tailpipes. just check all of your coolant and oil lines.

where was the smoking coming from? The front? rear?

Front: Check upper and lower radiator hoses. Check water lines on your turbo.

Rear: Heater Hoses

Its a hose coming out of the drivers side of the motor right underneath the oil filter and it goes to the center of the firewall (logicon?). The leak is right at the block

That is a very common leak spot, oil has a tendency to leak drip down on to that hose when changing the filter. This causes the rubber to break down

Ok, bringing up a finished story, BUT....

I just had the same problem. 5 minutes ago smoke started POURING from my engine bay... Seems to be pass. side maybe. I thought i could see some burnt on exh. mani cover once it stoped. See coolant underneath but no real visible source. Koyo Rad. is working fine and its not the main hoses...

HELP GUYS... pictures would be awesome!
