smoke on new fc(did a search, lots of topics)
drove my fc home from atlanta yesterday, no problems, drove to work this morning no problems there. driving home ,drove about 20 miles and came to a stoplight then made a left hand turn and saw smoke(big cloud) coming out from behind. thought it was a ford probe. drove 10 more miles no smoke , stopped to pay a bill, started it up and a huge ball of smoke blew out. drove to the house (15 miles) no smoke. have started it 3 times and no smoke. not overheating oil and pressure is good. only thing different im doing is hitting the o/d button when i get to 60 mhp @4000 rpms. nothing else different. and i cant tell what color the smoke is because of the tinted windows. but it looks very light blue, almost white(grey). remember i did do a search and ill probably try to scroll through all 500 hits. but im debating on leaving it parked and get in the old reliable fb for the rest of the week until the weekend. would like some feedback on this if possible. its a 1987 fc, n/a, with an auto tranny. thanks in advance

ok, quick update. when i bring it up to about 3-4000 rpms i get smoke with a bluish tint. i assume its running rich, am i correct? but i know that when i left atlanta i had a full tank and when i got to conyers (about 30 miles) i had half a tank. but that was not driving in o/d. i checked the little valve with the screw in the end at the front of the motor but its not leaking.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
What does the smoke smell like? It might be that your just running really f'ing rich seeing as though you went through 1/2 a tank in 30 miles (~5mpg).

alright. i let it sit for 30 min. and went and started it and no smoke at all. now, im not familiar with these trannys but do they have a module on the back with a hose connected that if the module cracks the vacume will suck tranny fluid into the motor. it doesnt smell like oil smoke and it seems like after it sits awhile it doesnt smoke until its started a few times. going to keep driving it though, and check the compression tomorrow. no leaks as of yet. thanks for your help. going to do a search on auto trannys
