It means you have a hole in your heater core.
Real pain to fix. Sorry!

It sounds like your heater core is going south and the only way to get to it is to remove your dashboard, which is a PITA.

You might want to try some of that radiator sealant stuff to see if it'll stop the leak up. I'd then flush the coolant after using it per directions.

It's behind the dash board, inbewteen the glove box and radio. If there's a leak you may be able to fix it. You really need to take it out to inspect it.

Hmm... that does suck...If you live in a warm climate, you can reroute the hoses so your heater core is bypassed, but you will have no heat...I dunno how tough it is specifically to yank one out of your car, but I've yanked 3 of them, and seen many more done, and have yet to find an easy one...

On a brighter note, the smell being rather light means that you have a small leak, and it should respond favorably to one of those additives, but try not to rev it out too much till it is fixed, as the higher collant pressure isn't going to help any...

best of luck...

No... at least it shouldn't.

It could just be that the clamp on the heater hose coming from the drivers side of the engine isn't tight enough. I've seen that cause a trickle of fluid inside the passenger compartment before.
