SImple question needing simple answer

I eliminated my OPM on a S4 TII. Do I still need the gear that drives it in the front housing? The PO removed everything from the front cover and if I dont NEED to put that gear and shaft back in, Id rather not.

I don't believe that you do. You can take it out and put a block off plate in its place.

I think i remember reading here some were if you remove the shaft and gear you have to remove the front cover and seal a hole in the front iron that has oil flowing through it.

I'm guessing that's what was meant by the 'block off plate'

Thanks. So Im gonna have to plug the feed hole to the shaft in the front cover, not in the iron.
