Silicone Hose Job
I am looking to replace all my rubber vacuum lines with silicone and have a couple questions. 1) What is the inside diameter of those little hoses? 2) How much hose will I need to do the job 10ft, 15ft? (keep in mind I will be making a few mistakes) 3) Is this a job a non pro is capable of?

They are not enough of though. Just enough for the rice rockets Whatever extra you need you can just buy by the foot. It is an easy job. Time consuming. Do it one at a time cut exact lengths, and you should be fine. I use zip ties to fasten them, but some people don't like that idea. Oh yeah there are (things I forgot what there called) that help prevent boost creep in some of the vac. lines you need to take out and put in the new lines.

I wasnt really sure what amounts fo each diameter I would need so i just ordered some of everything. 20ft 4mm, 5ft 6mm, 5ft 8mm, hopefully that will cover what I need. As for the things that prevent boost creep, I think your refering to pills, I have no idea what lines have them and what lines dont so I will just go line by line and check every one for a pill. I know the job will be time consuming but i think I will be able to do it. I plan on using those zip ties, I have seen it done before and have never heard of any negative effects from their usage.

the 6mm is the size of your overflow tank. and a few other lines here and there. most of the other lines are smaller. I guess 4. I can't remmeber I just brought a piece to the store and said "this size" I don't think you will find any use for the 8. I guess that's what you would use the for the hood rod and throttle cable if you wanted too...
I just did some of mine but I need more line. might what to get some new "T"s too.

where do the 10mm go?? the only one I can see that might be bigger then 6 is one of the charcol can lines. but it's not a 10mm.

Oh you won't use all 30, but that covers extra for a boost gauge, controller, and so on. I've heard that 25 will leave you with left over. I just replace some of mine whenever I have the IC off.

Just did my '87 TII - used 16 feet 4mm and 3 feet 6mm. I didn't do any 8mm - musta missed something. It's easy to do, except for the lines under and behind the throttle body. You need to remove the throttle body/plenum assembly. I also had a little trouble with the line going from the filler tube to the purge valve - had to remove the left side TII mount to get clearance. Have fun!

The short section of 10mm hose is for the brake booster.  It runs from the back of the upper intake manifold to a pipe on the firewall.  If you trace this pipe, it leads to the brake booster.

Thanks, Ted. I did not miss this hose, I just did not have any silicon hose to replace it with. So, I checked the old hose, and it was still pliable, and did not leak when I pressure checked it, so, considering this is probably the original hose (it is ok after 14 years), I decided to use it and put the car back together. To date, no hesitations, smooth idle, and mind-bending performance, so it must be ok.
Scott, my understanding is that oil causes problems in silicon hoses, so, imho, you should be ok using silicon for the charcoal canister.
