Should I sell the GXL and find a TII?

like the title says, i got myself an S4 (87) GXL, should i try to sell it and dig up an S5 TII somewhere?

The reason I ask is because 1. Im really attached to rexanne and 2. I dunno how much i'll get back for it. It's got some rust I'm fixing, not a huge problem, i can have the paint matched, the engine is strong, and the Interior is damn good considering, but seeing is how people don't want NA's anymore, I dont think i'll get more that fydolla for it! What do you guys think?

lol, I just bought a 1986 GXL for $900 out the door w/ 123k on it, 1yr old trany, needs:
wheels, brakes. Stock wheels on it now, ugly... Clean interior, all original, better condition then the 95 civic my step bro got for $7000

Plus there is a Mazda specialist near me in sac that says I am better off getting a Mazda w/o the turbo and having one installed. Haven't got any prices yet, but I am not rushin on it right now. Workin on my sub box for my 12's (cubbies behind the driver/passenger seats)

I do know if I would have been better off waiting for a S5 but I couldn't help the price! I know my insurance would be so much if I was to get an S5 TII! Heh the guy I bought it off of said he needed the money for christmas for his wife...

btw what have you done to it? What are you asking if you are thinking of selling it? Is the rust from snow, IE Salt from back in the day? When did they stop using salt? I was going to get a 1970 challenger but the bottom was rusted out from salt.

oh they still use salt. A lot. Just in my city, you can drive by the salt dump where they have hundreds of tons sitting waiting to be used. But the rust seems to be from the paint chipping and water getting in. Rust bubbles you know. As for doing, just maintenece, ya know, replaced the mufflers, changed the clutch, tires too, and now im just trying to make the outside look good (i.e. rust removal and touch-up). I got it for aobut $2200 and i was thinking of selling it for about the same, little more little less. Its just that 7's are really hard to come by here, and TII's are even harder!! Out of the third largest city in Mass (area wise) I've only seen 1 other 7 (a vert) and outside of here, i've only seen an FB and 1 NA going the other way.

"If it aint broke, dont fix it"

If you are happy with it, keep it. T2's are nice, but you dont really need the extra power. The sooner you realise that "there is always someone faster than you" the happier you will be with your non turbo lol

soooo... i should just save up for the FD for honda-***-kickin fun, and take my licks in the FC huh? I suppose with some Blizzaks and better rustproofing, the FC might not be a bad winter car.

my $.02

you are comparing apples and oranges. you are talking about a NA car that has very adequate power and good relibility. and then comparing it to a tubo car that has more power but sacrifices longevity.

you need to consider more than speed and power in this equation

and as for stillmatic's "specialist" saying that it is better to get a NA car and putting a turbo on it....hate to tell ya, but it jsut sounds like he/she wants to sell you a turbo kit.

keep the NA car man. i have a turbo car and it is nice an all, but like 88 SE said, once you realize that you will never be the fastest car the better off you will be.

As they say, speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

S4 NA -> S5 TII is a big jump in money, at least double the price.

Why aren't you considering a S4 TII?

Like the guys said though, if you don't really need that much more power, then stick with the NA. You can do some mods to it which aren't all that drastic (streetport, remove engine crap, exhaust, intake, fuel) and have it fast enough that it will easily beat stock TII's.
Try keeping the NA for a while - maybe a year or so, and then you will probably know better if you really want to get a TII or not. TII's are nice - tones of power potential, but like guys said, less reliability and more expensive.
