Should I be scared to buy this car

A guy I work with has an 89 turbo2 with 130k miles but 30k on the new reman engine. He said the car ran great until a line busted and the engine bay cought on fire. I dont know how serious it is but he said that the vacume lines,O2sensor wire, And a wiring harness and a radiator hose were all that his mechanic said would need to be fixxed. He quoted him $600 for the parts not including instalation. He doesnt have the money to put into the car to fix it so he said that I could buy the car from him for $500. I am going to look at the car next week and thought I would get the advice of some 2nd gen owners. I have a 3rd gen that I have pulled and installed the engine, done all the vacume lines, and I did a single turbo upgrade on the car all in my garrage. So I have the skills to work on the car myself but I was just wondering what you guiys thought of this deal.

I don't know much, but $500 is awfully cheap. However, I don't think you should get it because you've already got a '94. That's just not fair to the rest of us.

You don't want that thing. Give me his # and address and I'll make sure he dosent sell it to anyone else.

If the car is in pretty good shape then hell yeah it's worth it. The engine alone is at least woth that. even if you get it and decide you don't want it you could part it out for a lot more or just turn around and sell it to me. I'll bring a trailer up there and get it. Just go look at it. You sound like you know enough about cars to tell what it would take to get it running.
If you don't get it let me know. I need a donor car.

She always goes and watches me and always talks about wanting to do it but she doesnt have a car that is worth taking out on the track!!!!
