where to get power?

where to get power?

hey does anyone know where i can get power for my head unit? i am almost done my install and i don't know what wires are ground and battery. if anyone knows where i can get the power from or which wire would have provided power to the original stereo let me know, THANKS

You might want to pick up a wiring harness adapter so you won't have to cut the OEM wiring harness. The adapter's wires are labeled correctly so no guesswork.

Seems like Mazda's color coding is standard as well - so you might look up which color is power on one of the self help websites.

Yeah, just get the adapter.

But I do know that on a 91, the thick blue wire with a white stripe is the 12V power supply wire.

If the problem is you can't get constant supply and you are losing your presets when you turn the key off, then run a wire to the hazard light fuse, it always has power regardless of where the key is.

I AM SOOOO CLOSE TO BEING DONE, I JUST NEED TO HOOK ONE LAST WIRE UP TO AN ACCESSORY TERMINAL IN THE FUSE BOX...ANYONE KNOW WHAT FUSE TO USE AND HOW TO HOOK IT UP TO IT? THANKS GUYS

Why don't you just find a continuous power line that comes into the car, for example, the line that powers the security light on the center console... put a fuse in there and then run a wire right under the console and up the head unit!
