Exclamation Should I rebuild this?

This definitely doesn't look right to me... especially the line with no oil in/ on it

as I am sure you all know it is the Omp.
I read the how to by racer x-8, so I am probably going to do that for the lines.

buuuuut I have read on these forums that there is an odd shaped o-ring when I get to rebuilding the actual pump.

Does anyone know, where I can find all of the parts I need to rebuild the pump sucessfully, or if I should just buy a used one?
(I have already checked mazdatrix, they have some of the stuff)

any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

-Miles

id say used or brand new is your best bet especially if youve never re built one cause in the end a lot of people usally end up paying 3 to 5 times more money because they mess one small thing up and ruins everything after re installation... or just block it off and go pre mix...

This place sells an OMP rebuild kit: http://loweperformance.com/

I don't have any personal experience with it, but I've heard good things. I'll probably be doing it if I ever get another engine in my base model, along with a 2-stroke OMP adapter.

Thanks guys
I would run premix (considered it many times), but I am too lazy hahaha
I am a fairly mechanically inclined person so I should be able to figure it out....especially with those instructions lol

Being that everything around it is also covered in oil, It could just be a leak from somewhere else that is getting down to the bottom of the engine where the OMP is at. You could try cleaning everthing off with brake cleaner then running it, to see if there is an actual leak at your OMP.

the OMPs always leak, you can always just reseal them with a small amount of silicone or anaerobic sealant.

i wasn't sure if the thing would implode or not when i took my first one apart since no one ever talks about the OMPs but they are simple. only problem is the S5 ones have an electrical component that can wear out.

if anyone is really concerned about it they can send me theirs and i can reseal them for a minimal charge, probably around $25 plus return shipping,

My thread from the archives
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/writeup-rebuilding-s4-metering-oil-pump-608166/

That OMP I rebuilt in the thread is still working, I sold the car to a coworkers dad, I still see it zooming around town. They tell me is running great(whole car in general) no issues.

The link needs to be updated , just enter the partnumber into the site manually
