should i or not?

ok i did a search on wiring open the 5th and 6th ports on my motor. It seems alot of you are saying that you will loose low end power, which i already knew. BUT my motor is streetported and i've heard that because of that i won't loose a hole lot of low end tourque. Is this statement true? And i have an s4 so when the sleves are open will my rods be up or down? Im guessing that they will be pushed down, that was not clearly explained in the previous posts i read when i did my search. What do you guys think?

Why do you want to wire them? Are they stuck closed or sumthin. If you have an S4 that is treet ported you will undoubtedly still lose tourqe but since you have more power overall it might not be as much as a stock car. I believe the 5th and 6th ports are operated by backpressure from the exhaust so if you thought that by removing the air pump your ports would not operate they will as long as you have the backpressure from the exhaust.

yeah i guess i should have made it clear that because of my exhaust and the lack of back pressure it creates my 5th and 6th ports arn't opening up! So what do you think?

hmm, If you have a lot of cash you could get the mazdatrix true duals that I am getting. The system provides the backpressure that is needed but gives a stock moter a 28% increase in rwhp and they have a dyno sheet on the site. The only bad thing is the cost 12-1300 bux plus shipping. If you can't afford it then I guess there is no other option for you until you get a better exhaust system but you won't gain anything, just get the top end back and loose the bottom end.

Okay...

If your 6-ports arent opening because of lack of backpressure (which I highly doubt, they are probably stuck), you can wire them open. I have done it before.

Push the rods on the vacuum actuators down all the way, and figure out a way to keep them there. I used Zip-Ties.

Yes, your low end will be noticeably different, but its easily overcome by using a little more gas pedal. With your streetport, you need the extra air at high revs. Do you have an intake system on it, or is it stock?

ok well i just wired them open using zip ties! Im letting the car warm up until i take it out for a test drive. BUT on the bottom of the actuators their are these little nipples! I have nothing connected to these little "nipples", should i have hoses connected to them? My exhaust is brand new it only has 3000km on it, The motor went RIGHT when i put it on so that is ok!

Certaintly, but if there is no Cat, then the backpressure MAY not be there. I cant remember off the top of my head, but I think 6 PSI of backpressure is needed.

And contrary to what you may read from all the ding-bats on this site, but the air pump has nothing to do with opening the 6-ports.

I am [retty sure the nipples on the bottom of the actuators are supposed to be connected to the exhaust at the Cat if they exhaust is stock.

i thought that the air pump only opens them on s5 cars! Seeing how mine is a s4 and doesn't have an air pump anymore ( i took it out ), i think that has nothing to do with my problem.

Actually, they are connected to a vac line just before the check valve on the split air tube. One tube only.

so the pressure runs through the lines connected from the cat to the "nipples" which operates the actuators! ok that makes sense i dont know why i never thought of that before So with me having no catz what should i hook up the hoses too?

Read what I wrote....I specifically said that the air pump had NOTHING to do with 6-port actuation.

It does not. If you still have the stock cats or a replacement which provides the same type of nipple as the stock ones you should connect them with a vac hose. That will probable wke them open ok if you just have a test pipe setup the just wire them open.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

There is NO nipple on the cats! Its on the SPLIT AIR TUBE!!!

The only thing that connects to the cat is the base of the split air tube.

It runs from just below (and to the left) of the acv to the cat.

I am plenty calm... It just so happens that I have seen you post bad information before. So I corrected you.

Well I guess that I usually believe the wrong people. Maybe I should hang around you since you seem to be smarter than the average bear. I just try to pass on the information I know about sorry for my miss information to anyone. Thanks for correcting me though I would not want to cause anyone to mess up their car.
