Should I go S4 or S5 Jspec

Hey guys, I found a place that has jspecs for $800 cdn including tranny/turbo/manifolds with a good warranty.

What I'm wondering is if I should swap in a S5 or keep S4 into my 1988 10th.

I'll be keeping my S4 ecu/wiring. Can I just use my S4 Manifolds and fuelrails? To keep my mechanical omp what do i have to do(I'm assuming swap front covers)?I've also got K2RD blockoff plates for S4, will they work on a S5? What about flywheels/clutch? I want to keep using my current S4 tranny...

Thanks in advance...

well its up to you if you can get both S4 and S5 for the same price
S4 will be straight drop in while S5 you need some work .... you can use the S4 sensors you have in your AE and save urself some trouble

flywheel will need to be changed coz the wieght /
counterweight for the S4 S5 rotor is different

let me know if u selling a tranny i need one TII tranny cheap

Yes S4 in S4 is a lot less trouble.

I planned on doing this but the importer sent me an S5 by accident. I'm just going with it and swapping the front cover to mech OMP and then using s4 550's because I already have everything S4.

Well, I think I'm going to take whichever has higher #'s when i do a compression test on them.

I don't mind switching front covers. But I'll make my decision when I see them.

sub9lulu I doubt you'll want me to ship you a tranny from BC. Plus it'll be nice to have a spare around...

i would only get the series5 13bt if you can find all the parts needed to run it. i just bought an fc3s.org S5 jspec 13bt and its becoming very hard to find the stock s5TII AFM and wiring harness.

I'm going with a S5 in an S4 and I have the S4 harness/AFM/ECU/etc.

Since the blocks aren't instantly swappable I am getting a S4 throttle body and S4 Injectors(square plugs) and swapping the front covers to make the mechanical Oil pump work.

It's kind of a way around the S5 rarity of parts if your swapping. It's harder this way but it keeps my car more S4 than S5 under the hood.

www.xe.com is a good site for currency conversion. There's even a calculator too.

Well actually they just told my freind they would ship.(They even found a shipping company and got him a quote)

I'm still going to go pick mine up(6 hour drive).

I know a few other places in Vancouver area that have them for around that price too, just none in stock...

jason one thing to remember you are buying a junk yard motor. J-spec = junk yard laying on the ground motor. Some work out but usually those are 91's. S4 will be tuff. I would do a rebuild as soon as you get it then you can have it ported and you will have a known good motor before only half of the core is good.

If she blows I got my old S4 core so between the 2 I should be ok. Plus this place has a decent warranty.

Just right now I'm to short on $$$. I won't be pushing the jspec.

I found a place in Quebec that has S5's, $900 usd I think. Shipping was killer for me though $500 cdn to ship it.

Since your much closer it would be affordable.

I know alot of other places around calgary and another in montreal, but nobody has stock.
