should i fix this; is it broken??

hey everyone.
atached are two pictures of what i beleive is the water thermal sensor. One i am pulling the little plunger out. the other is with it plugged in as far as i can push it.

does this look broken, like i need to replace the whole thing, or does it look like it is repairable?

does this just need to be screwed in, and away i go?

my car seems to run fine besides a little eratic idle...could this be the cause of the eratic idle?

thanks,
cam

Mine was disconected when I first got my car. The only thing I noticed was the car would not idle when I started it up. I would have to hold my foot on the gas pedal for a while so it could idle on its own.

Damn, mine does the same thing. I though it was because of the one on the bottom of the radiator being busted. I'll have to check that one and see what it's condition looks like.

It would definitely improve it.

Why did you make another thread asking questions everyone told you the exact same thing in yesterday? Not believe us or what?

Yes it is important if you want your car to run properly. Don't be cheap or lazy, just replace it.

I was getting the code for that thing, but refused to believe that it was the culprit of a huges hesitation/miss that I was experiencing. I replaced it, and my car runs and idles like new now. I am not saying you will experience the same, but it made a HUGE difference to me.

This part will cost you $15 bucks at Autozone/Advance Auto/Pep-Boys. Its a standard sensor and is used by many Mazda's, Subaru's, etc... Just get a new one! Takes 15 minutes to install...
