Lightbulb SHOT IN the DARK....

My car runs really rich..really really really.....and "misses every 20 seconds or so....rrrrrrrrr pop pop rrrrrrrrrrr..ect
anyways i was wondering if an unusual clog in the exhaust could cause this? One of my mufflers is blown to **** and the other seems to be on the way out too....could "rust" in the muffler be restricting the flow of exhaust and causing the rich situation and poor gas miliage, i have changed everything else....just a shot in the dark...

Well, you can turn your idle mix down by following the steps in the FSM. Other then that, your ECU takes over. Had your O2 sensor changed lately?

umm, I have a NA FC and I get around 16 in the city and 25 on highway....on 87 octane, and no I do not shift under 3K either....my highway mileage was figured over an 860 mile trip I took in October, and my city driving is figured every time I fill up. All stock, and I get these numbers consistently. If you are only getting 6 or 8, you have something wrong or out of adjustment. I get at least 300 miles to a tank and almost always more than that....obviously less if I get on it hard but nowhere near the mess that some of you are saying.....

bacl to the first question...............could the hypothetical blockage be causing the rich stuation and poor gas miliage?

Possible, if the blockage was so bad that it was keeping the gasses back in the manifold area.
