Shorted CPU
Shorted CPU
I took in my 88 AE that I just bought into "Rotary Racing and Reliability" and he said that the broke reverse lights and tach were caused by a shorted CPU. I don't have any reason to doubt him but it just seems odd and I didn't know if the CPU could cause those things. Have any of you seen this issue?
The CPU has nothing to do with the reverse lights or tach.

so go pick your car up, because the guy working on your car doesn't know what he is talking about.

If it's not that fuse sometimes the wiring gets left disconnected by accident when the transmission is pulled.
Also, the tach is driven by the trailing coil, so check the wiring to it to see if it's loose if the fuse isn't the problem.

Talked to the mech. He agrees that the tach and reverse lights aren't connected to the CPU, but when the guy wired the alarm system he wired it in such a way that shorted the cpu and a bunch of the wiring. I don't know, but I don't have time to **** with the car right now. Has anyone had trouble with this shop before? It's "Rotary Reliability and Racing" in Santa Ana, CA.
