short VS longblock

short VS longblock

okay i think im gonna get flamed for this but whats the difference between shortblock and longblock i searched and it said that a shortblock is a engine sold not ready to run and a long block is ?? is this true or whats the real meaning because im looking at buying a TII longblock for my 88GXL?

short block is the engine itself, no tranny, just the bare engine.
Long block with tranny and most of the component you need for a swap.

ohh okay cool , thanks alot, i thought it was a difference in the length of the engine itself so i was kinda stumped

long block doesnt have to have a tranny... most dont come w/ trannys..... long block is basically a complete motor.. all manifolds, fuel system, pumps, etc...... everything thats attached to the engine (except not always w/ a tranny as previously stated)

It was stated by some one here that long block include tranny.... well i must be misinformed
