the mazdatrix shifter does infact raise the fulcrum farther up the shifter to a point well above the stock pivot point on the housing. It does this by way of a tallish collar that effectivly increases the height of the housing, allowing for the relocated fulcrum to actually help your leverage.

My mazdatrix shifter was VERY tight for the first 100 or so shifts until it broke in, now it is very smooth and fast. only about 3 inches in total throw mine does vibrate/rattle a little bit while under WOT and under engine braking.
enjoy

Drove on the mazdaracing shifter again today (this is about a month later then when I told you I drove it earlier)...it's definately looser than last time thank God...

STILL can't stand it, just not good at all to me (but damn the CF Mazdaspeed **** that he's using is fabulous! I love the way it feels).

P.S
I hate that shifter...

I can only picture your arms as strips of fettuccini dangling helplessly at your sides
No, I am actually 220lbs. And I am a LEO that works out every other day.

I know, I've seen the video.

But my opinion, and you know about those, is still that this makes it harder to shift, without adding any significant advantage in shifting speed, at least when compared to the cost of the units. To ME and again, my opinion, its like adding those floor pedal covers to give you better shift speed.

But that is my opinion, and I respect yours, its your money, spend it on what you will. I'd rather spend mine on an all aluminum radiator to replace the leaky one I got.

(Nice superfluous use of the letter k, it adds credibility)
I don't even know what superfluous means. I don't write for a living, and didn't get to go to colledge. So if this is a hack at me.....but I know alot of good people that can't spell as well as me, so I won't take it personal.

OH...and I still think the stock shifter is the best out there.

Then stop complaining about leverage and shifting effort. I race my car (road racing and autox), the stock shifter makes shifting ambiguous by providing too much leverage. When you need to shift fast (especially down-shifts, when you're pumped up on adrenaline and trying to brake, heel-toe, shift) you want your arm to feel the gates, feel the stops, and feel that you're solidly into gear. When the lay-shaft is at speed and the synchros don't have the work, the shifting really is quicker.

P.S. I didn't go to college either.

It's not hard at all to install one so I really can't see him messing something up that bad...I REALLY disliked the shifter very much when I drove the car. He might have put the bushings in wrong, but still...just be careful if you buy it. Let me know how it turns out.

I too have driven that same car with that same shifter! It shifts GREAT, not loose but you dont have to be a macho man to move it. Oh and NO he's not loosing his topend! Low end "wtf?!"

p.s - I still love his ****!
