Yeah, you gotta love that short shifter. My car already had it installed when I bought it, so I don't know what the stock shifter feels like, but it's a hell of a difference from my Probe's shifter. Although, it did take some getting used to. When I first got the car, every now and again, I'd shift from 2nd to 5th, lol, but now I can 'shift mad quik yo' ....

did you run into the rattling problem like they talk about on their page??? One reason I didn't buy that shifter was because I didn't want a rattle. I was actually pretty lucky to find a japanese guy selling a new C's short throw shifter on ebay for 200 bucks. not bad

I get very little rattle, if any at all. The shifter doesn't return to center when in neutral, but there's very little play and it's pretty stiff. Though, you can kind hear a faint grinding noise that revs with the engine. I'm guessing that's the tranny, lol. But, I don't know anything about the install, as the guy who sold me the car did it, not me.

The "other" way to get short throw:
Here is a short throw in action:
Ease out in 1st, nail it, nail 2nd at 6500, wind out 2nd, then 3-4-5 all at once.

I dont exactly have a short throw... but when i first got my car i wanted to put a different shift **** on there. the *** before me had superglued the old **** on. so i wrestled with the damn thing.. than almost before it came off (felt like it was coming off) was acctually the rubber/tar/crap tha holds the top of the shifter assembly on You other FC guys know what i'm talking about. I thought to my self we've got a problem cause all i had left was a nubb to mount a shift **** too. Well, i made a custom carpet "shift boot" than just mounted it to the "nub" it acctually worked out pretty well. I have been driving the car for about a year now with now problems. I will eventually buy a real short shift kit though. BUt it's kinda funny how i broke the damn thing.. and acctually just drove it the way is was.. anyone else have that happen to them???

I now have a VERY short throw shifter!! I did my own short shifter from the sticky that used to be here. Now some history on my attempts to DIY short throw, about 5 years ago I removed the top section (where you screw the ****) just to try the "feel". I wasn't convinced, so I used epoxy to glue both parts together. After many years, and people messing with it (long story) it finally came apart. So just for testing purposes, I install the **** on the lower section of the shifter (and now with the short throw mod from the sticky), I HAVE A 1.5 inches thro TOPS!!
I must say downshift to 2 gear is not easy (difficult\hard) other than thtat, I love it. It must pass the wife test...........Let see how that goes

Congrats bro. I just installed a mazdatrix short shifter a couple of weeks ago and it made a huge difference in the throw. Much more than I thought it would. Feels totally different.
