Shopping list for s5 13b rebuild...

All right, the time has come where I must pick up the credit card and order engine parts like a mad man... Heres is the list of potential parts I am going to get to complete my rebuild... Give me some feed back please!

The list:

Engine Gasket set - Mazda trix - $186.27

Apex seals - Rotary Aviation - $188 (shipping included)

2mm Solid corner seals - Atkins Rotary - $66

FD corner seal springs - Atkins Rotary - $27

Front main seal - Atkins Rotary- $3.75

Rear main seal - Atkins Rotary - $7.50

Atkins Thermal Pellet - $10.50

Side seal set - Atkins Rotary - $102

Side seal Springs - Atkins Rotary - $22.20

Pilot Bearing and Seal - Atkins - $11.24

-Other-

Oil pump chain - Mazda trix - $34.43 (may not need this, mine has 3/8in slack)

Primary fuel injector air bleed - Mazda trix - $23.17 x 2

Some sort of street port template - ?- ? (need help on this one, what do you recommend? I know I should search (I will), but I would like some ppl to suggest some also...)

This comes to a grand total of $705.23 without the porting template... I've seen people put kits together for cheaper on here, but I'm going for all new rotor seals and I dont want to tear my motor down again (for a while) for a small cheap part... If I left any thing out that I'm going to need let me know, or if parts can be had for cheaper give me a site for it...

-As for apex seal springs, will the RA apex seal springs be fine for an N/A that is a summer driver and may occasionally see an autox run? Or should I use my 104k mile young stock springs? Or buy new mazda springs?

Thanks for the help!

hey, the list looks pretty good, i dident see any oil seals on there unless there in one of the kits your geting.. also measure your side seals the odds state therte still all good and the corner seal springs rarley go bad... as far as the RA apex springs, just use them they will be fine for your aplication..

peace and good luck

I wouldn't reuse your stock springs with 100k miles. I'm sure theyre out of spec. However you CAN reuse anything thats within mazda spec, just its a good idea not to on something that old. Nice to just freshen it all up at once. And seeing how its been 104,000 miles to this rebuild. You are hopefully looking at something near that since its a non turbo.

most people will tell you that mazda oem is the best you can get for a street car.

are those the cheapest prices you've found? is Rotary Aviations big kit more expensive? Since you're only using the apex seals and not there big kit.

Good luck

If you want complete, just buy it from Rotary Aviation.

For $997 you can get everything in your list plus the all important ROTOR OIL seals ,CORNER seals and SIDE SEALSwhich more than make it worth the extra $200.

If you are going to skimp on anything at all just get the basic kit to make sure you have what you need to prevent problems with the engine .. for $548

I rebuilt an engine using the $548 kit. Worked fantastic and had everything I needed except the engine install gaskets...

and the engine gaskets can be had for like 60 bucks from them too.

+1 for Rotary Aviations unbeatable pricess

I was staying away from the RA kit becasue of their coolant seals... and it looks like the mazda trix kit comes with all the gaskets to reinstall everything on the shortblock... but I dunno, Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong... It also looks like the oil o rings come in it too... but I may be incorrectly identifying parts.
