stock belt sizes?

hey, I was wondering what the size of the stock alternator belt was... cause I need to buy one that's a little bit bigger cause my fd alternator isn't fitting right at all.... I searched but I couldn't find anything.

Myk, It'll fit...you just have to get It past the lip of the Pulley and you'll be okay.

Awhile the car Is In neutral, slip the belt on the underside of the Main Pulley. From there, hook as much of the opposite end of the belt on the FD Alternator Pulley. After doing this, pull the belt upwards ( In the direction of the firewall) simutaneously rotating the Main Pulley.

Kinda of a strange analogy to when the chain would fall off the BMX back In the day.

It's abit more tedious slipping on the Belt on account of the FD Alternators noticably bigger size (approx 20% larger when compared to a s4 Alternator). I had the same happen to me aswell when I fit In hIGGI's Pulley with 2 NEW Belts, for example.

I took the bolts off to get it to fit, and I put the belts on like you said, but I can't get the long bolt to go back in all the way, the back fitting of the the alternator won't line up cause it's being pulled up by the pulley in front.

So It's mounted and ready to go than? The Alternator has to be mounted by the swivel bolt before the belt slips on...but If you made It work than forget what I'm saying.

Are you using new Alternator belts for the Install?

Yes, and I eventually got it, but I had to grind down a portion of the alternator that was hitting the water pump. It wouldn't allow the alt to go down far enough to attach the 15321 belt. I even tried my old 15315 belt that was stretched out and it wouldn't fit.

Before I ground it down you could pull the belt up and clearly see there was about and a half inch needed. After I ground the tab that was hitting the waterpump it was still a pita to get the belt wedged on there with a flathead/turning the main pulley.
