shifter problems

having a little prob with my shifter but it's kind of hard to explain. when i shift into 1st or 2nd the shifter will almost fall over fartherto the left. it is almost like the ball at the bottom of the shifter wil jump out of where it is suppose to be. my se did this too but not as bad. it is a pain if i am racing as i have to hit the shifter a little harder to get it to come out. anyone got any ideas on it? is it just that i need new bushings? i put in either the upper or lower set (whichever mazda lists) less than 1k ago.
