not trying to knock HIGGI or anything but the mazdatrix short shifter kit comes with all new bushings. I believe most of our shifter bushings are torn or deteriorated if they were never replaced. If your bushings are good go with HIGGI.

The inner boot is also a problem. Almost impossible to reuse an inner boot if you're switching from one shifter to another. Tha Mazdatrix kit comes with this. If you get HIGGI's shifter, just order an inner boot from your local Mazda dealer. Mine usually has them in stock for around $20-25, can't remember how much I paid last time.

Here's hIGGI's site: http://rx7cz.net/shop/

thanks guys...great info. However, what about the throw. Which shifter will allow for a quicker reponse.

Are the springs included with the new bushings?

I just picked up my new 7 this weekend, and the springs are absolutely worthless...the shifter is sloppy as hell.

what do you guys think about a stock sifter that has just been shortened? same fulcrum points just shorter. i am having one custom made that will be a 3 inch throw. they would only be about $75 when all is said and done. granted thats just the shifter, becouse it would just drop in. please let me know what you all would think about this.

i would think it's worthless, honestly.

Same fulcrum point doesn't make it a short shifter at all.

Anyone who races will tell you that a longer shifter is fine, but the throws themselves need to be short. I want my shift **** as close to the steering wheel as possible.
