shift up light

hey is this weird or can it be common, the shift up light does not go off ever and i tried the redline thing and i didnt here abuzz but it was for a very short time.

also weird feeling driving this car may sound like awhole lot of BS, but i had other ppl say the same thing, i redlined at 60mph in 2nd gear and felt this wierd funneling feeling, looking thru the windsheild only straight became visible everything else sorta fuzzed out normal? or am i crazy?

I am not sure I can answer all questions, but, if you are on the throttle hard, the shift light wont come on untill higher rpms, which I would assume that it could be messed up and not come on at all. Also, I have been to 60 in 2nd, and I dont remember anything other than, damn, this little old car can do 60 in 2nd.

the shift up light comes on when you are less than 1/4 throttle and exceeding 2600 or more than half throttle and exceeding 4000 RPM.

It will not come on to tell you to shift at or near redline. It is a tool for getting the best fuel economy.

if the light is never coming on, either the bulb is bad, the connections to the back of the cluster are bad or the neutral safety wire is grounded or the 5th gear (over the top) switch is grounded.

what are you on? You've been playing too much Need for Speed. if your vision is bluring at 60mph you NEED to see a doctor because your retina is detaching from the cone which can lead to perminant blindness.

Thats good to know, I thought mine was messed up. Though it still is messed up. It will come on only at about 20-25% throttle, anything higher it wont, anything lower it wont

Tunnel vision is caused by extreme acceleration. Doubtful in your case, but maybe possible under the certain conditions.
