i have a hurst T handle, it comes with different threaded sleeves for different patterns and one of them fits the pattern, then there is a tightening nut just like on the stock one. I love it but a lot of people dont like T handles

the tap I used to thread my replacement **** reads:
8/3 - 15
5/16
I know 5/16 is the diameter, and it looks like 15 is the number of full-diameter threads on the tap. That leaves, 8/3, which must be the thread ratio, or the pattern you want.
I have a S5, the S4 had a different thread pattern maybe?

You should've searched. As I posted before:
"The S4 thread pitch is M12x1.25. It's the same as most Subarus and some Toyotas. Greddy makes a couple, but do NOT buy the Mazda version! Buy the Subaru version for S4 shifters.
S5's and most other Mazdas are M10x1.25 and Hondas are M10x1.5 for reference."
