sheared bolt post

hi guys!

Not sure if this is the exact right place for this, if there was a dumarse section, it would go there.

Ok, basically what happened was I was tightening the nut on the top post of which holds the BAC in place, and I tightened it right off. Now my question is this, am I able to remove the post and put a new one in, or am I going to have to get someone who knows what their doing weld it back together?

The worst part is, my car is still idling like ****... (a whole other problem...)

go to a hardware store and buy a tap and die kit. drill out the broken stud with the correct sized drill, then tap it again. go buy a new stud/bolt to put in its place.

easiest way if you have a welder is spot weld a new bolt on and back it out, sheared bolts from tightening usually are fairly loose unless you happend to cross thread it in which case drilling and tapping is the only alternative.

First get a set of extractors at Sears or any auto parts store. Select the proper size extractor, drill the hole according to the directions and see if you can back out the broken off piece of stud using the extractor. May or may not work, but it's worth a try.

Well it isn't sheared at the bottom, it is sheared level with the BAC, so if I take the BAC back off, you are saying I should be able to unscrew the post from the UIM?
