Shaking engine

What does it mean if an engine is shaking at any RPMs below 1300?

Ok, let me add something to that, then. Engine shakes and runs irregularly until it warms up, and even then runs at about 500rpms?

Spark plugs are blackened, but seem fine.

Mine kinda does the same. Really shaked when I put it in nuetral (Motor mounts cured this part). If they've never been changed they are due.

Mine shakes, but I'm not sure in the same sense.

If I sit at idle, I can see the whole motor assembely rumbling and moving a little.

I'm talking about letting the car idle and looking at the engine itself. It's jerking back and forth. I thought it might be cause of the low rpms (500), but it does that all the way up to about 1300.

how difficult are motor mounts to replace? how many bolts are on each and how many are there?

Not too difficult to replace if you have a jack or engine hoist. Main thing is to lift the engine just enough to remove any stress off the motor mounts. Place a jack under the oil pan and then a block of wood between the pan and jack cup. Or, get a hoist and just lift the engine a little. If I remember correctly the mounts connect to the engine with two bolts and the mounts to the frame with one bolt apeice.
