shaking car.

got a 88 rx7 gxl not long ago(week or two), and when i hit over 30mph the whole car shakes, when i throw it into nuetral it goes away when im below 40-45, when im over that it keeps shaking, im doubting its wheel balance because it wouldnt stop. i was checking mazdatrix and juding from the symptoms it seems like the rear u-joint is going bad, anyone else ever have this problem? above 60, it seems to get weaker.

quick question, it also seems the throw out bearing is going bad since when im sitting in a parking lot doing nothing, it doesnt sound like something grinding, just like there's something worn lose, would that be the throw out bearing as well?

edit: im going off of this

Your tires may be worn beyond usefullness. Check to see if the belts are separated.

Did you even read his post? If it was his tires, it wouldn't matter if he was in neutral or not.

Do you have any clue what you are talking about? Maybe you should read it again.

Besides... YOU ARE DEAD WRONG, separated belts can smooth out under certain speeds and then reveal themselves again at higher speeds.

My apologies.. Its your tires dude.

On a 19 year old car, I would guess the factory u-joints would be the culprit over something that is regularly replaced.

But apparently I don't know what I'm talking about.. so don't listen to what I'm saying.

Dude.. sounds like your u-joints for sure. Ignore BLKTOPTRVL.

Could also be your rear diff mounts or something.. but most likely its your u-joints.

No, you're not wrong because you made a suggestion. You may be right about the shaft. But I may be right too.

Where you are wrong is that you offer a smart-*** response to a reasonable suggestion that I made to try to help the guy out. That's what you should apologise for, instead of backing out of your statement/accusation.

Stop making smart-*** remarks - especially when you are wrong - and nobody will have to calm down.

if you are positive that it is you driveshaft or u joints, just go out to a driveline shop and see what they will charge you to fix or replace it. if you cant find a drivline shop, ask a trucker! they will know.

I tried that actually, but because its a "non-rebuildable" driveshaft, most of them won't touch it.

If it WAS rebuildable, we wouldn't be having this conversation. U-Joints are too damn easy to replace for there to even be a write-up. LOL.

Go pull your driveshaft off (mark where it comes off though so you can bolt it back up to the diff in the EXACT same way). After you have it off, follow the writeup on my site. Its REALLY easy to get them out. Ask anybody who's been in the 4x4 scene before.

what im going to do, is try to find a junkyard where the guy said he knows of lots of parts cars, and see if i cant pull a driveshaft from a car like mine. he's already pulled lots of other little things for it, i figured they probly have at least one spair sitting over there as well.
