Shaft

So I need a new drive shaft. It vibrates a lot. How long can I still drive my car?

The length of time you can drive your car is inversely proportionate to the amount you care for your car, and to an extent yourself.

Are you sure you need a new drive shaft? I would make sure the bolts/nuts connecting it to the rear differential are snug first before you waste your money on something you dont need.

You could get a used shaft on the forums for pretty cheap if you are strapped for cash.

Ya. I took it to a local transmission shop and they told me that's what it is. I was looking at some at Mazdatrix and was thinking about picking up one of the aluminum ones they sell. I was also thinkng about doing the swap myself. I have the manual at home. The ony thing I don't know about is if I need to ballance it before I put it in. Guess I can figure it out when I'm ready to order it. I'm trying to not drive it at all. I love my car. I deffinatly want to take care of it.

Try craigslist.com and the regional forum for your location

You can go to a junkyard and find a good shaft for like 30 bucks.

I thought of that too. Only thing is that it's probably gonna be hard to find a T2 around here.

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-rx-7-1986-1992-parts-194/ You can start a "want to buy thread" in there, shouldn't be hard to find.

Also check out the for sale section in your regional forum: https://www.rx7club.com/regional-forums-upcoming-events-7/ That's probably your best bet actually, shipping a driveshaft is probably a bitch. I'd try to find one you can pick up locally first.
