Setting the timing

first of all does anybody have the lower drive pulley for an S4 N/a?

Ok, my car has just been rebuilt, how do you set the CAS to the first rotor firering? The CAS has the upper two points on it, one with a little circle on it, (the trailing i believe). The pulley doesn't have the marks on it. what do I set CAS to on the yellow mark?

If your car has been rebuilt, why are YOU doing the timing? Doesn't your engine guy do that for you? If he didn't, dont pay him. If you paid him, and he wont, sue him. If you redid it yourself, why are you asking us? If none of the above applies, check archives. Better detailed than me telling you that the #1 leading is what you set at the yellow mark, on what? I'm confused, aren't you too , now.

jono, why do you, like others, take my honesty as anger. I'll shut up from now on about people who get their cars fixed, and then come here immediately for help. If you , anyone, is stupid enough to pay someone without completing their job, serves your stupid *** right. Angry, I guess at the stupidity of people, did you have anything for this guy, or just me smart ***?

I rebuilt the engine. The pulley I have has no marks, but I just bought one from Makenzie.

when you get the pully mount it and put it on tdc line up the "right hand mark " to the pin on the front cover. then take the CAS . look at the gear there is a small hole or indent. (not the pin hole that holds the gear to the shaft) but the hole that doesn go all the way through. then there is a arrow i believe on the shaft . line up the mark on the gear to the shaft mark . gently slide the cas into the front cover making sure not to twist the gear on the cas and you are set on a rebuild time. once you get the engine back in the car and try starting it you might have to give it a small turn to get it to start .. but rebuilds dont like to idle well at first so get it to run as smooth as you can for a while then once the idle settles down and stablisizes then get a timing light and set the timing the right way

Take the pulley off the engine. Lightly sand the rust/paint/crud off the REAR edge of the pulley. Look real hard all around that edge. Don't you see two scratch looking marks about 1/2 inch apart??? Look real hard. Say yes.

Do it to both your new and old pulleys. Compare scratches.
