hello
i got a 87 turbo
i trying to get my car to idle right (800rpm)
so far i only can get it to 1000rpm, i have played around with the timing etc.
i try to set the TPS with the 2 lights but when i hook it up to the plug it dose not work for some reason none of the light go on even with i push in the sensor.
so i was just wanting to know if you set the sensor with a vote meter or something
so if any one know any other ways please post back

OK, this check/adjustment must be done with the engine fully warmed up. Remove the intercooler. Make sure that the fast idle is fully disengaged. Make sure that the throttle is completely closed (not being held open by cables or something). Find the TPS connector. Turn on the ignition, meter the green/red stripe wire to ground. It needs to be 1.00 volt (as close as you can get it). If you get it adjusted, slowly depress the plunger while watching the meter. It should increase smoothly to about 4.5 volts plunger fully depressed (I just open the throttle). If it does not, replace the TPS. After successful adjustment, 1 light should be on, the other off at the test connector. If it is not, an ECU problem is indicated. Good luck!

On a 87/88 TII where is the test connecter? I've read that it's by the passenger side shock tower, but for the life of me I can't find it. I do however see a little green test connecter sitting under my intercooler, is this where it is on the turbos?

Also I've heard about burning out ecu's using the test lights, is this just bad luck or is there a way to avoid it.

And I've got a my ecu code reader allready made up, can I use that for my 2 leds? I know it has some kind of resistors or something allready wired in.

Question 1: Yes, that's where it should be.

Question 3: Highly recommended, because you will NOT blow an ECU with these LED's, but there is a possibility you will blow it if you use bulbs that draw a little too much current!
