Links to TPS adjustment

I adjusted the TPS on my 88 TII using a multimeter. I couldn't because the TPS is bad, so now it's running poorly. But it was running better before, so I assume the last guy to adjust it used the two light method, and there is some range where the TPS works better then where it is now.

Unfortunetly I can't find a page to show me where the TPS check plug for my car is. I've seen several which claim it is by the passenger side shock tower, can't for the life of me find one there, although I do see one under my intercooler by the tps itself.

Also, can I use my ECU error code check lights as TPS checker lights?

Thanks for all your help

Mine on a 87tt is green and on the left side under the intercooler like you described. There is a 88 factory manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and section 4b should show it if you don't get any answers. Its shown on page 4B-43 of that manual and it appears to be along side the oil filler cap area. Section 4B, page 4B-43. ECU codes part I know nothing of. Personaly I just get on the green wire with a red stripe with a volt meter and adjust the tps screw until I get exactly one volt. Done. Finished. No screwing around with lights etc. That green wire with the red stripe is on the connector for the tps. The above method is done with a fully HOT engine, key turned to the ON position and the connector connected to the tps. The ECU is looking for one (1) volt when you get thru adjusting the tps, so why not comply with what it wants? P.S. I've got one of those test lite assys from Mazdatrix for sale along with one of those ECU Code downloaders if anyone is interested.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is highly recommended, since bulbs may overload the CPU and thus blow out the switching and relief valve transistors as a result. Positive wires to the common terminal, one negative wire to each remaining terminal. Have fun!
