It's funny how they act like it's a perfectly smooth path through the FTP and into the intake.

The money goes towards paying for that sweet drawing of the FC, and the scientific explination that it provides.

Autoexe...it's a Japan company, so it's imported from Japan.
So actual price is half that once you take out all the customs fees and taxes.

Autoexe was one of the major sponsors the recent rotary return to LeMans effort (that failed miserably), so I guess they needed to pay for that big mess.

Its carbon fibre man, its all the name your paying for and that ough so sweet, sweet, texture feel.
I've heard that the weave of the carbon fibre actually helps to swish the air around before it enters the engine making it mix even better with the fuel giving you a HP increase. Also you need to realize that the carbon fibre is strong so when you get into a wreck your intake will survive while your wimpy plastic stock box would not.

From those pix, the exterior of the cone looks smoother than the interior of the cone.

Better designs could be made for less.

Rig up a ram air system similar to one off of a mustang. they go under the front bumper, only 2 or 3 inches high and strentch the full width of the front. Same results for probably 1/3 the $, and probably would work better too.

It's not hard to use the stock intake snorkel for *free* and make some ducting to extend it.

That's whats annoying, you can go to www.jegs.com & enter Ram Air Intake & thier search engine returns 3 pages of them.... sure, they're 200+ each, but for a nice one, that actually improves performance, I'd do it...

at the guy who's making excuses for buying that POS "intake". Those are the lamest excuses I've heard. Prelude CAI, some cutting and presto you have a nice intake at 1/10 of the price.

Dont get me wrong I am no making excuses I would never spend that kind of money my only statement was to claim that they CAN sell it at that price because no one else makes on and that somone will buy it..

I will be making my own ductiing and doing it myself to save money!

Or people who like stuff simple. Not that I would ever spend $500+ on a funnel anyday, but If it were $150-$200 I might see buying it just because it looks pretty nice and would be easy. Though I dont have an N/A, so oh well

Cheaper people have made cooler parts for less money. Some of the CAIs I've seen on here are pretty awesome.

The words "who" and "cares" are coming to mind. Any decent cold air box would perform better than this. All you'd have to do is cut a hole for the FTP lense area.... OR a hole into your fender well.... I'd like to keep my FTP lenses.

It's not just that it's expensive, it's that it's expensive and doesn't work! It doesn't matter if it was free, it still won't work. Why would anyone want the same design?
