Sent this baby in..

Ok I'm almost 100% certain I'm getting this car. It's basically mine but if I want financial support from my parents they wanted me to get the vehicle inspected first. I took it into a local mazda dealer and here are the results:

Some **** about the steering column cover (doesnt say specifically)

Needs rear tires

High beam switch and dimmer switch doesnt work

No rear wiper. he took it off.

Cooler hoses leak

Needs belts

Power antena failure

left fog light out

Rear hub bearings loose

Left front wheel bearing loose

THOSE ARE THE PROBLEMS.

Here are the compression results:

rotor 1 : rotor2:
8.9 8.7
8.9 8.6
8.9 8.6

Let me know what you guys think.
Ohh and if anybody knows how much $$$ this will knock off his price please let me know (state which currecy please).

Thanks

at least the compression is even on all 3 faces of each rotor. it is a little low though.

biggest thing i see is the leaking cooler hoses and that isn't even "that" big of a deal. try to get a couple hundred off the price due to needing tires. other then that good luck with the 7.

when u drive the car it makes a rattling sound coming from the rear... probably caused by the loose rear hub bearings... is that a big deal?

rear hubs are sealed one peice units. probably needs to be replaced. expect a few hundred bucks

front one probably just needs to be tightened.

headlight switch is common. not hard to fix. guy in town does it.

belts easy to change.

oil cooler hoses? couple hundred more for new ones. I wouldn't drive till they are replaced. they could burst.

power antenna. does it have an aftermarket deck? most people can't figure out how to make it work so they leave it unhooked. but it's easy.

what year / model is this, and how much are they asking?

Remember that the purchase price is the smallest cost in actually owning an RX-7.

uhh yeah a s5 tii in good condition goes for 6 to 8 grand tops and thats pretty ridculous, perfect examples might be worth a bit more but those are so rare i wouldnt expect to find one. you can get fd's for less than 9 grand.

Tell me youre not serious. You can pick up a perfectly good one for 3 or 4 thousand. I wouldnt even consider buying that car if he wants that much. I seriously doubt he paid 12 for it, unless he bought it many many years ago. He probably told you that to sucker you into paying a ton but makeing it seem like its less.

Don't forget, he's probably (I hope) going by Canadian dollars.

12,000 CAD = 8,668 USD
9,000 CAD = 6,501 USD

You can get FD's for that, if they're missing an engine and/or complete trash.

ok, 6 to 8 thousand some, is still too much for a T2, especially one that needs work. Shop around and youll find others for a better price.

haha yea canadian dollars boys chill. This one also has an upgraded t3/t4 turbo. Rebuilt engine. Both turbo and engine only 12000kms on it. 150 000 kms on chasis. recaro seats, hks exhaust, full struts. 2 piece aluminum rims (not sure which brand but i think just from mazda). black interior, new red paint job. NO RUST.
also greddy turbo timer.

oHH and ive been looking for 9 months now and this is the best thing thats come up. Theres not too many in canada trust me. wat kind of work does this need? barely anything man, new belts, new rear bearing... new hoses... thats it

sounds like you like it. if you are prepared to fix what needs fixing, i say run with it. S5 t2's are getting more and more rare, as long as you think it's worth it, don't mind what other people think.

I was thinkin about offering 9000 ish?

now I know which car it is.... I never knew it had no rear wipper though which threw me off before.

yes he spent 12k. but he has also spent a good few thousand on it since buying it. all new front and rear calipers, rotors, and pads. brand new front wheel bearings and races. the bonez downpipe and high flow cat ( I think off the car right now?) all vac hoses where changed and injectors pulled and cleaned. he added a rear camber bar and got it aligned not too long ago. he bought the boost gauge and pod. he also has a greddy EGT gauge for it but I don't think that's in yet either.

I think around 12k is fair. it has alot of stuff, 150k km (90k miles) is pretty low for these cars now. those seats are worth alot (real recaros). the factory front lip has only been used a few months ever. it was bought new right before he bought the car but not used as he didn't want to hit it. it's worth around $700 if you can even find one anymore. I doubt you'll find another turbo II with the stock lip.

it has a HKS f-con. knight sports to4 hybrid turbo, front stut and control arm bar. trust (greddy) shocks and springs which I've never even seen before. most likly from japan. nice "work" 2 peice rims.

I highly doubt he'll sell it for too low. mainly because he doesn't even want to sell it. but he has another car and this one han't bee driven much in the last year. it's been "kinda" for sale for around a year. but he still has it because he hasn't got a good offer yet.

I don't think he's in any rush to sell it.

Sounds like a nice car to me. I doubt you'll find an rx-7 that will never need any work so the fact that it need work shouldn't mean much, beside lowering the price, if you need to fix all listed i'd tell him to take at least a grand off

some of you americans have to realize that us canadians usually have to pay more for our 7s than those south of the border...at least around where i am

if you can get it for $10k at MOST, buy it! otherwise i say why waste money on a already modified car...i mean, doing the work yourself is part of the reason we (or at least i) own these cars...
